The fire doors & partitions market size was valued at USD 32.49 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach USD 45.29 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 4.24% over the forecast period of 2025-2032.
The fire doors & partitions market growth is driven by fire safety, which has become a top priority across industries. With an increasing focus on enhancing safety standards, the demand for fire door market products has surged, especially in the commercial and residential sectors. Fire-resistant glass market innovations are driving the development of fire-rated doors and glass, allowing better integration of safety and design. The rise in demand for the fire-rated systems market is linked to the need for more durable and fire-resistant structures. Additionally, Fireproof interior partitions are gaining prominence in creating safe and compartmentalized spaces.
Among the fire doors & partitions market trends, manufacturers are increasingly focusing on incorporating advanced technologies to improve fire resistance and functionality while ensuring aesthetic appeal. The market also sees an uptick in demand for customizable fire-resistant partitions that cater to various building types. These trends are creating lucrative opportunities for the development of innovative solutions to meet evolving fire safety regulations.
In February 2025, an arson attack at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in Scotland set fire to the court's door, causing severe damage and disrupting legal proceedings. This incident highlights the vital importance of fire doors in safeguarding buildings and preventing fire spread. The attack led to the closure of the court, affecting scheduled trials and triggering an investigation.
Drivers
The Fire Safety Rules & Regulation To Drive the Market Growth
The fire safety regulations by the government are increasing, and the installation of fire-rated doors and partitions is a mandate for better safety in the building and protection of inhabitants at the time of the fire. This is especially important in a high-rise building, where making sure people are safely getting away is essential.
For instance, in Maharashtra, India, following the tragic Chembur fire incident, the state government issued final notifications enforcing stringent fire safety norms. This includes specifications for fire towers with two-hour fire resistance, a fireman's evacuation lift, and a ventilated lobby in the staircase as a means of escape from fire. New sections in high-rise buildings, especially for buildings over 90 meters tall, will now have break tanks with fire pumps every 65 meters away from the ground, along with water tank systems on service floors or refuge area floors. The DCPR 2034 in Greater Mumbai and the Unified DCPR for the rest of the state, which form the core of the regulatory framework in the state, have incorporated these regulations, thereby ensuring uniform enforcement of these regulations across the State of Maharashtra.
In February 2022, following the deadly fire at Mumbai's Sachinam Heights, a report recommended fire-resistant inspection doors for electric shafts in high-rise buildings to prevent the spread of fire. It also proposed mandatory fire audits and stricter regulations on interior decorations to improve fire safety.
Restraint
High costs of installation and maintenance deter the adoption of fire-rated doors in budget-sensitive environments.
The high installation and maintenance costs of the fire-rated doors act as a hindrance to the fire-rated door market growth, particularly in cost-sensitive markets. Such as fire-rated door installation expenses are USD 400 to USD 900 in the United States, labor expenses rise to around USD 40 to USD 90 per hour. In India, the rate depends on the material and fire rating. For a coated door, the 2-hour fire-rated is at ₹4,800 a square meter. Factors affecting these costs include the door's fire rating, material quality, size, and additional features like intumescent seals and property-specific hardware. Furthermore, ensuring that the installation is safe and adheres to certain codes requires hiring a professional who can quickly increase costs. Due to such fiscal aspects, property owners and developers can shy away from construction or property investment in a fire-rated door, especially in financially constrained regions.
In November 2023, Shakti Hörmann announced an investment of ₹175 crore to establish a fire-rated door manufacturing facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The plant will produce 1.3 lakh wooden doors and 2 lakh steel doors annually, with operations beginning in 2024, to meet the rising demand for fire-rated doors in commercial and residential markets.
By Material
Metal is the dominant material in the fire doors & partitions market, commanding a substantial share of 42% in 2024. Metal is the strongest, most durable, and most resistant to fire material, which explains its dominance. Symbol Source The metal fire door is principally made of some kind of steel material, which protects against fires for extended periods of up to 30 minutes to 2 hours. Metal fire doors are an effective solution for both industrial and commercial applications that require high security, durability, and long service life. The temperature resistance and maintenance of metal nature have made it the first choice for fire protection in buildings across the globe.
Glass is the fastest-growing material in the fire doors and partitions market due to its increasing demand for aesthetic appeal and transparency in modern architecture. The best part about glass fire doors is that they allow natural light, unlike other fire doors, which provide some level of privacy. They are often found in office buildings, shopping centers, and public spaces where both practicality and aesthetics are valued. The trend in building design is to create open, light-filled spaces, and glass fire doors offer the perfect combination of performance and aesthetics. Such a charge is pushing the glass segment in the market at a later stage.
By Application
The industrial segment dominated the market and accounted for 43% of the fire doors & partitions market share, owing to the demand for increased safety within the industrial sectors such as manufacturing plants, warehouses, and factories, where fire protection is paramount to safeguard personnel and assets. The widespread use of fire doors and fire partitioning is a consequence of stringent fire safety regulations and the need to ensure that fire does not spread rapidly into large and potentially hazardous areas. Hence, the dominant segment of demand in the fire protection industry will continue to be the industrial sector.
The commercial segment of the fire doors & partitions market is experiencing rapid growth due to increasing safety regulations and awareness in commercial buildings. Corporate offices and shops also focus more on fire safety, and thus, the requirement for fire-resistant doors and partitions has increased. This, in turn, sustains this market segment, along with increasing commercial construction as well as stringent construction codes and regulations. This segment of the global fire doors and partitions market is likely to be the most lucrative as commercial spaces are likely to focus on maintaining high-quality fire-rated products to ensure safety for occupants and protection for assets.
In 2024, Asia-Pacific led the market with a dominant 38.12% share, which is driven by rapid urbanization and a booming construction industry in many of the major countries in Asia (China, India, and Japan). These countries are witnessing steady infrastructure development, such as residential, commercial, and industrial development. In addition, the revocation of old fire safety regulations across the region is creating demand for advanced fire protection systems. The market growth is also driven by the infrastructure upgrading initiatives taken by the government and rising awareness of fire risks. In addition, Asia-Pacific is the second fastest-growing region, fueled by a growing middle-class population, investments, as well as changing building safety standards.
China leads the Asia-Pacific fire doors & partitions market in 2024 due to rapid urbanization, extensive infrastructure expansion, and stringent fire safety regulations, such as GB50116 & GB50045. Smart cities, as pushed by the Government along with the enforcement of modern fire codes, have created a wide platform for investment in better detection and suppression systems.
Europe emerged as the fastest-growing region in the fire doors and partitions market in 2024. The rapid development is primarily being fuelled by the need to renew dilapidated infrastructure and meet renewed fire codes across the continent. Meanwhile, Germany, France, and the U.K., among others, are already pouring money into retrofitting public and private buildings to new safety codes. Also, there is an extensive use of fire protection technologies in the residential and commercial sectors, which indicates that this market has taken precautionary measures concerning risk holistically.
North America holds a substantial share of the fire doors and partitions market due to its well-established construction industry and fire protection standards. Specifically, in the U.S. and Canada, the long-standing culture of fire codes and standards has created a more safety-first approach to building design and maintenance. Furthermore, refurbishing repetitive structures with innovative fire protection technologies, including automatic suppression systems & smart alarms, further boosts the market growth.
The U.S. fire doors and partitions market was valued at USD 4.05 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 5.67 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 4.29%.
The increase is due to the increasing fire safety standards, refurbishing of old infrastructure, and commercial and residential construction demands. Finally, Passive fire protection systems' emerging awareness also supports the market growth.
